LIGHTNING PROTECTION CERTIFICATE SERVICES
The Lightning Protection industry is, in many respects, a subset of the building industry that serves residential, commercial and industrial structures. The industry addresses the common need to limit the hazardous and damaging effects of a lightning strike. UL’s Lightning Protection Inspection Certificate Service offers dedicated, independent, third party inspection of lightning protection systems, and verifies that these systems comply with the below national standards.
UL’s customers may request inspection to the following lightning protection standards:
UL 96A, Installation Requirements for Lightning Protection Systems
NFPA 780, Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems
US Government Standards
Any other Nationally Recognized Standard
A UL Lightning Protection Inspection Certificate indicates that a system has been inspected for conformance to one of the above listed standards. The Certificate lists the system location (by name and address), the installer requesting the Certificate, the issue and expiration dates for the Certificate, and all relevant details of the inspected system.
